Results of Sorting People Quiz

Well, having just taken the Sorting People Quiz, I can honestly say I am in no fit state to judge people based on their appearances. If anyone's curious, I only got 2 of the people correct. I think I understand better now why the governmemt uses self-identification. Honestly, only those people know what they really are, and you can't expect to understand that based solely upon how they look. This quiz is a great example, becuase I would probably never have guessed some of those correct answers!

  1. I think you will find that almost everyone got "fails" this quiz"! But you got the point -- that "you can't expect to understand [race] based solely upon how they look." I'm interested to know what you think race is based on, if not observable appearance. You note (correctly) that "self-identification" is the only way to be sure. What does that tell us about what kind of category race is? Or the ways it can or should be used?
